A successful 25th anniversary that sets the tone for the future of Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy!

Gatineau, August 20, 2022 – The 25th anniversary edition of Les Grands Feux came to a close on Saturday evening, after 6 evenings of program that brought together the local community and many tourists. Over 40,000 people came to the magnificent site of the Canadian Museum of History to enjoy the transformed experience Les Grands Feux had prepared for them. It’s also worth mentioning that tens of thousands of people also enjoy the shows on both sides of the river, away from the main site. It’s an event that brings the whole region together.

“It was a real honor to celebrate the quarter-century of an event as emblematic for the region as Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy is! It was magical to see the children marvelling and the participants arriving earlier and earlier to enjoy the site like never before, and to discover our new multimedia and fire cooking features with such enthusiasm! In short, it was a privilege for my team and I to be able to celebrate the event’s rich history, while revealing a host of new features,” says Marc-Antoine Massicotte, President and CEO of Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy.

The 2022 edition in facts and numbers

  • 6 evenings of program, 4 of which sold out. If it hadn’t been for unstable weather on 2 of these evenings, the event would probably have been sold out every night;
  • more than 40,000 people attended the 25th edition of Les Grands Feux, the highest attendance since the event moved to the Museum site;
  • 8,479 dishes from local restaurateurs sold through the various on-site food offerings, including the picnic box, food trucks and BBQ cooking area;
  • 350 volunteers who contributed more than 8,500 hours. The organization would like to extend its warmest thanks to all of them, as the event could not have taken place without these Grands Passionnés;
  • the Public’s Favourite award for large-scale pyromusical shows went to Northstar Fireworks from the United States, for their Tie Dye Sky show;
  • tons of composted materials, hundreds fewer cars on the road and less plastic on site! A report on the event’s sustainable development initiatives, in collaboration with Banque Nationale, will be published in the coming weeks. This is an important issue on which the organization has sought to innovate in recent years.

On that note, the new chapter of Les Grands Feux has only just begun. The organization is already looking forward to planning the 26th edition.
