The Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy were created in 1996 as a series of fireworks shows that took place for the first time in the greater Ottawa-Gatineau region. They are part of the prestigious international fireworks show circuit. Over the years, the event has become one of the top events in the pyrotechnics industry. For 25 years, the Outaouais region has welcomed the best firms in the world to compete for the coveted Grands Feux trophy.
In 2022, the event is still in full swing and is a great success thanks to the support of its loyal participants and several select financial partners. Among them: the Casino Lac-Leamy, title partner of Les Grands Feux since the very first edition. Les Grands Feux remains, without a doubt, the most dazzling and unifying torchbearer event of the summer season in the Outaouais.
The event takes place on the shores of Lac-Leamy for 18 years. This is where the original concept of Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy blossomed.
1996Royal Pyrotechnique, a Quebec firm originally from St. Pie, becomes the official supplier of pyromusical services for Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy.
2012After nearly two decades on the shores of Lac-Leamy, the event is moving to the backyard of the Canadian Museum of History with a mission to develop a new sustainable vision. Event participants will now be able to enjoy the Museum's charming natural setting, curved architecture and downtown location, as well as live performances against the backdrop of Parliament of Canada.
2014The torch of the organization of Les Grands Feux passes to Les Fondateurs's team and its new president, Marc-Antoine Massicotte of Gatineau. This event is now part of the growing trend of entrepreneurship.
2019In response to the health restrictions caused by the pandemic, Les Grands Feux had to be imaginative in 2020. The project therefore took an alternative form called Illumination: the largest fireworks display of the summer in the country where 8 pyrotechnic shows on 8 secret sites were deployed from east to west in the city of Gatineau.
2020In an effort to reconnect with its community and loyal participants, Les Grands Feux is taking on a second alternative project called Two Weeks of FIREWORKS, which marks the return of the event to the Canadian Museum of History, in a more intimate format, with local performances.
2021In 2022, the spirit was one of celebration and renewal! Participants were invited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event, which marked the next flamboyant chapter of Les Grands Feux! On the menu: great pyromusical shows, culinary discoveries, entertainment and novelties for all.
After a 25th anniversary that left its mark on the history of the Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy, the 26th edition was a resounding success! More than 40,000 participants joined us for a transformed, multi-sensory fire-themed experience, with 4 hours of entertainment each evening, including grand pyromusical shows, fire cooking experiences, multimedia installations and more!
2023Marc-Antoine Massicotte passes the torch to take on new challenges. He will be succeeded by Julie Moffatt, President of umaine | créativité stratégique, at the head of one of the most important events in the greater Gatineau-Ottawa region.
"I'm extremely proud to be taking over the reins of one of our region's jewels, following in the footsteps of creative and visionary minds such as Marc-Antoine Massicotte and Claude Hamelin. The success of Les Grands Feux relies on the skills and unwavering commitment of internal and external teams, as well as loyal partners and volunteers who have joined the organization over the past 27 years; it is therefore an honor for me tojoin these exceptional human beings in making our beautiful region shine," confided Julie Moffatt.
