How to get to Les Grands Feux

Simplify your evening: All the details about access to the site, parkings and public transportation!

Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy are held in the backyard of the Canadian Museum of History in the heart of downtown Gatineau. We invite you to consult the following sections for all the details concerning your transportation.

Access the site

Opening of the site: 6 p.m.

Various entertainment: multi-sensory experiences, animation, culinary experiences and other surprises: 6:00 p.m. to 9:20 p.m.

Fireworks show begins: 9:20 p.m.

End of the fireworks show: 9:45 p.m.

Deadline to enter the site before the show: 9:00 p.m.

Closing of the site: 10:00 p.m.

You can get to the Canadian Museum of History by bike, via STO public transit (the best way to get to the site!) or by car. If you choose to travel by car, remember to plan your trip around peak hours and the preferred times of day of the participants of Les Grands Feux.

The official parking lot of Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy, located at 98 Victoria Street, will open at approximately 5:45 pm.

From Gatineau :

The Canadian Museum of History (Laurier Street) is easily accessible via Alexandre-Taché Street, Boulevard des Allumettières or Boulevard Fournier.

From Ottawa :

All bridges that provide easy access to Laurier Street (via the Alexandra* or Portages bridges), Alexandre-Taché Boulevard (via the Chaudière or Champlain bridges) or Fournier Boulevard (MacDonald-Cartier Bridge) can be used to get to the Canadian Museum of History (Laurier Street).

Please note that the Alexandra Bridge will be temporarily closed during certain periods on event nights: 

Bridge closure for cars 7:30 p.m.

Pedestrian bridge closure 8:45 pm

Closing of the bike path 5:00 p.m.

Car bridge opens at 10:30 p.m.

Pedestrian bridge opens 10:00 pm – 10:15 pm

Bike path opens 10:00 p.m. 

Aqua-Taxi Service

Public transportation with the STO

Opting for public transit to get to Les Grands Feux is an ecological and practical choice. 

The Grands feux du Casino site is served by the regular network via the following routes:

Please note that the parking lot will open at approximately 5:45 p.m. each evening of fireworks.

Other options?

It is possible to park on the outskirts of the site as well as in

several private and paid parking lots on Hull Island. Rates are set by the operators.

Be sure to arrive early. Paid parking is available in the area. Some congestion may occur upon arrival and departure.

Please note that the Canadian Museum of History parking lot will be closed to the general public this year.

Cyclists will also be able to park their bikes in the secure areas provided. Details to come!

Reduced mobility

Les Grands Feux site is accessible and safe for everyone! 

A special area has been designed in a safe and central location on the riverfront of the site to enhance your experience. This new area has reserved seating for your companion, private adapted washrooms and a bar nearby. 

New for 2023 : a special entrance for reduced mobility ticket holders is being created. Located under the Alexandra Bridge, it will be accessible from the Marina at 160 Laurier Street, Gatineau.

Free bike parking thanks to National Bank

Thanks to our partner in sustainable development, the National Bank, a bicycle parking lot will be set up in front of the Maison du Citoyen every evening of FIREWORKS.

New for this year! A family care area. 

Moms and Dads will now be able to enjoy a family care area located next to Les Étincelles playground that has been designed to enhance your experience.

This new area offers changing tables and chairs for breastfeeding in peace and quiet.
