Waterways Traffic on the Ottawa River

In collaboration with the public safety departments of the cities of Gatineau and Ottawa, the Casino Lac-Leamy Fireworks wishes to advise boaters that a section of the Ottawa River waterway will be temporarily closed on show nights. On August 2, 5, 9, 12, 16 and 19, a section of the Ottawa River between the Alexandra and Portages bridges will be closed to boats and ships from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., in order to maintain the safety perimeter required for the pyromusical shows.

From July 27 to August 22, temporary docks will be in place, as well as a 60-meter perimeter around these docks, marked by (6) six illuminated yellow warning buoys. For safety reasons, information buoys will be set up downstream of the Alexandra bridge to mark out the safe zone. No vessels will be allowed upstream of the Alexandra Bridge after 6 p.m., with the exception of cruise ship operators who have made prior arrangements with the Grands Feux organization. Please note that the ban on sailing within the perimeter between 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. remains in force for operators, whether or not prior arrangements have been made. The Gatineau and Ottawa police forces will be on hand to enforce safety measures.

The Ottawa locks will be closed to land and sea traffic from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on show nights. Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy would like to thank all boaters concerned for their patience and ask them to exercise caution and respect the regulations in force on show nights.
